About the software
AVBP focuses on compressible reactive and non-reactive flows. It is used for multiphase problems, turbulence modelling, plasma flows, wind turbines and turbomachinery.
Designed with high-performance computing in mind, it is parallelized using MPI for distributed memory systems. At the node level, MPI3 RDMA communications allow for optimal performance combined with optimised vectorisation and cache blocking on CPUs. Accelerator offloading is possible via OpenACC pragmas with full solver support of NVIDIA systems for combustion simulation.
The code uses classical multi-element grids (tetrahedras, hexahedras, prisms, pyramids, quads and triangles) with 3rd order in time and space numerical schemes.
Software details
AVBP is the state-of-the-art application for CFD of combustion in Europe and is used by both academia and industry. It is developed by around 40 people at CERFACS and many other researchers in Europe. The code has demonstrated excellent parallel performance in all current Intel, AMD and Arm CPU architectures as well as NVIDIA accelerators and more recently with prototypes on AMD GPUs.
