The Data Management Platform facilitates the access to High-Performance Computing resources for industry, particularly for SMEs, and provides data transfer and HPC usage through a web front end.

Description

Providing access to exa-scale computing is important for innovation in academic research and industrial development. The main concern is to facilitate collaboration in basic research and industrial engineering development. A basis for successful cooperation between research and development partners is the well-managed provision of data. Therefore, a requirement is reliable data exchange for engineering workflows. For industrial partners, a major barrier to using exascale or HPC capabilities is that they often have no explicit knowledge of how to use HPC resources. Using HPC resources requires specific, non-standard know-how for setting up, storing, and retrieving data to configure workflows. The Data Management Platform tackles these issues and provides web-based use-access to HPC resources.

The Data Management Platform has the target to increase the availability of HPC resources for the industry, especially for SMEs. It facilitates the secure data transfer to HPC resources with a graphical user interface for HPC usage from any location through a web-based front-end. The Platform provides a management function for users and HPC resources, a function to create and manage individual calculation projects as well as a function to upload input files, start simulation runs and download simulation results.
